"10 Hours at 60 mph"

Alot of times, people ask what do i do for a living. Next question is usually if about whether or not I like it. Then they continue with asking about the type of clients that i work with. However, no one really has asked me about what is around me in my job. A lot of the people that i know live basically in the Clemson area. Most of them don't even see the sights I see. So I decided that i am going to start alittle series of shots of places I pass and see while driving for my job. All of these pictures were taken randomly throughout Anderson County in my work car (#877). Here is the part one of the series. It was also inspired by claire's longing for interesting pictures and wanting to make her smile after a long day. Enjoy part one entitle: " 10 Hours at 60 mph".

Also here is alittle video i made with most of the images from part 1. I thought the music does a good job at capturing my mood for the day. Enjoy!

two sides of me

two parts. lately i feel like i live two different lives. today while i was at work i classified the two different forms of me. 1) Super Hero Loy and 2) I'm possible to forget but hard to remember Loy. You may look at these two categories and think it is a weird or sad mix. However let me explain to you the difference between the two and why I like these that i have defined myself:

1) SUPER HERO LOY: During the day, I work. I spend more of my days with kids who are on the verge of being placed into alternative place. My job is to prevent from occuring. So everyday, I feel like I am some from of super hero. I surprise myself a lot about how i can the stress and the emotional of the job. However, I feel like my friends (while i work are twenty miles northwest) never get to see this overly patient, creative person in action. I feel like this person only comes out at work. At work, I think people project me as the care free guy in the office. Always has his head-phones in and keeps to himself. Rarely goes to the company parties and never express his opinion mainly because he doesn't care to much for the ups and ups.

Also, some of the kids that I work with see me as this wicked cool person. It is weird to have so many little kids look up to you and think you are the best thing to sliced cheese. For example today, I was playing freeze tag with one of my kids today at recess. However, by the end of recess i had almost thirty kids wanting to play the game with me. It is strange to feel this way at the age of twenty-five. People actually look at my actions and want to be like that. So I am kind of like SUPERMAN?

2) Impossible to forget but hard to remember Loy: You may ask, why such a harsh title. I mainly say that because that is who i am. I have never been one of those people who has a core group of people and has stay with the group his entire life. Instead, I am the guy who comes and goes. In college, I was known to be the nomad of my friends. They always said that if i wasnt hanging out with them, I would be experienceing an crazy adventure. I like my adventures. But thinking about myself around here in Clemson. I found that I am friends with lots of different circles but never completely fit. For awhile, it bothered me that I was this person. However, now after thinking about it. I like that fact that i am the drift wood and have a history with so many lives. So people know me, but they do not offend embrace who i am.

I feel like for awhile i struggled with wanting to be nomadic and also have a stable sense of friends. I have learned also in the past three years the importance of family. Also how much, I enjoy having discussions and banting about our lives. I feel like in the past few years, my family has been getting closer to me. I have found that exciting and i think it is something that happens to families after awhile.
So all in all. I feel like there is more for me to explain but for tonight, this is what i got for you all. Also here is alittle update on me: in the next week i will be heading north with claire to boston. Yay for vacation.

back to the director's chair.

today i spent most of the morning working with Cory on the script for my new film which will be released April 21, 2007 at the DCF film festival. I am not going to give you anymore information than the tentative title of the film is, "If Only a Cello". I am still wondering if the title makes me feel good or whatever. Also, I can say that we had a very good meeting this morning and the script is turning out better than I had hoped. We have had a rocky beginning with this film. I started working on the idea for last year's film fest but dropped it when i got the idea for "Timmy Rupert's Last Supper". I am excited to get behind the camera again and share a bit of my creative conscious on the screen.
Also, Since I am having all of this movie talk i figure I would release something a little early. Below here. I put a link for new trailer that will be airing this Sunday (03-04-07)at DCF.

I can also say, that we have signed on most of the actors and picked out a good chuck of the music that we want in the film (however, that always chances with me continually finding new music). I will say that I am more excited to work on this project then I was with "Timmy's Last Supper". A lot of people do not know that it was actually written within days of the film festival and most of the people in the film did not even know who there co-star were. It was a pretty easy progress for the actors but a pain for editing. However, this year. I feel like I have a huge challenge ahead of me and I am eagerly awaiting to get back behind the camera. The information I can give about this new film, is that its a little slow to home with myself. A lot of the story is based off of stories of people and me. I will probably give more updates as time goes on.

Also on the side note: Cory and I took some time off from writing today, to scope out some area's to shoot some scene. In the process, we stumbled upon something pretty funny. Cory was so amused that he has to call a friend, to share the brilliance of this sign. I had my camera on me and we thought it would be funny to take a picture. So here is the picture. I hope you all stay well and are having a good weekend.

I hate tuesdays

Tonight, I had the urge to jump into "906" (the name of my amazing honda) and drive to Altanta. Where, there I would catch the red eye to London. Merely, to explore the streets and buy some flowers for the girl who lives in berkley place. It would be worth the 12 to 14 hour flight, to have lunch with her tomorrow and tell her the flowers I got her were from the streets of London.
I am full of thoughts tonight. Everything is very scattered and messy in my head. I find that Tuesday are my least favorite days.
One, I feel like they go on forever ( i start the day at actually 6:55 and always find myself going to be around 12:30 or 1).
Two, i always by the end of the day. I find myself upset or thinking about the days events. Usually it is always something that I did to piss someone off or say something that someone was not ready to hear.
Three, Tuesday are the one day that the world expects the best out of you. I mean think of it, Monday is the first day back, so your allowed to have a day to readjust from weekend. Wednesday is hump day. Thursday and Friday are the days were you just do at little as possible to make it look like your doing tons of work.
Four, Tuesday also does not have any good television shows of my liking. (thanks national television companies)

However, Tuesday has one positive thing. New Music Tuesday but that is it. If you do not know about the greatness of New Music Tuesday. It is the reason why i wake up so early in the morning (besides mens breakfast). It is when all the new releases of music is released. So I wake up, turn on the trusty computer and check itunes. There usually, they have updated there music selection and you can see all the latest releases. It can make or break my day at times.

With all of that said. I hate Tuesday, mostly.

Winter in the Hamptons ( i mean, Clemson?)

Nothing like getting awaken by a phone call by your boss. Stating that you are not allow to come into work because there is three inches of snow on the ground. Being from the New England area, I found this statement quite funny and went back to bed. Once I closed my eyes, I received a text from Claire, "It's Snowing". Funny southern people.
So now, I have the day off. Meaning I need to explain to all the southern folk, how to handle a snow day. So I am going to break it down in a few easy steps:

1. First and foremost, you supposed to be lazy ( i mean, it is a day off): your not allow to be productive. Pretty much look at it as God stopping the world for you to take a little breather and you embracing that.

2. You must drink something warm: I prefer the Hot Chocolate. Some people like tea to switch it up form there typical coffee in the morning. If so, try some waffles with it.

3. Make sure you get a nap in, sometime within the day. Napping is a vital part of the snow day. Since you are following rule number 1 (being lazy), part of being lazy is sleeping. So sleep.

4. For at least thirty minutes within your day, you need to watch the news. Not sure, why this is a rule. However, it is funny to watch the "Live Action Coverage" of the Blizzard of 07. For some odd reason they have seven hours of courage of three inches of snow. The arrival of the cure to cancer would be in the news and they'd spend there seven hour news coverage on how Timmy's tow company couldn't get his own truck of a ditch.

5. Finally, is you love the snow. You must go enjoy the weather. Throw a snow ball at your professor or roommate. Make sure, you get there jacket or shirt completely covered in snow. However, i throw out a warning: if you do this to someone, there is a large chance that it make occur back to you but with greater force.

So there you go. I wrote down some simple rules of a typical snow day. I will probably spending my day doing this amazing rules. I think i have already done half of them and it is only 10:30.
