Cary Brothers: "Who You Are": The other day I was listening to the mix and I heard a song that caught my attention, "Who You Are" the title track from Cary Brothers first full lengthy Lp. I knew of Cary Brothers from the songs, "Blue Eyes" (Garden State Soundtrack) and "Ride" (The Last Kiss Soundtrack) and heard some of his other songs that I was less involved getting to know from Ep's. However, Brothers has stepped up and put together a collection broken hearted, beautiful driven and passionate ballads. "Loneliest Girl In the World", "Honestly" and "Precious Lie" are heartfelt and hopeful among tragic of relationships. "Who You Are" and "Ride" are the driving chorus that deal with fighting for love and expression. Brothers has matured his writing style and is stepping forward with "Who You Are". It is a great record, go check it out at www.myspace.com/carybrothers
Travis: "The Boy With No Name": Travis's fifth album is a delightful and a cheerful surprise in comparison to there extremely dark forth album "12 Memories". The new single, "Closer", shows the more happier and sentimental sides of Travis progressive songwriting abilities and continue to embrace there beautiful melancholy feel. "Big Chair" and "Eyes Wide Open" are bass guided songs that put a refreshing twist to the traditional sober Travis sound. "Colder" is personal my favorite track, with it catchy lyrics, harmonica solo and entwined with Scottish sadness. "The Boy With No Name" is a sold record and also has once again put hope that Travis will continue to make good music.
William Fitzsimmons: "Its Not True": Fitzsimmons has a very familiar sound, honest lyrics and simple melodies. If you are fan of "Iron and Wine" (even looks like them) or "Joshua Radin" definitively check out "Goodnight" the new LP from William Fitzsimmons. You can also listen to some of his tracks "It's Not True" and "Everything Has Changed" at www.myspace.com/williamfitzsimmons .
