Irish Holiday.

In the holiday spirit and boredem over the past few days, I recreated a little story from Christmas of 2004. It is a tale about an Irish Boy and his heart. I hope you enjoy the little project and look forward to having more coming in the new year. Yes, 2008 should have more films and little movies. Below is the new feature film called "Irish Holiday". All the drawings were done by my lack of artist talent and the song is demo by a guy called Liam (something, sorry I forgot). Either way, i hope you can enjoy the short film and have a great holiday.

dear movie talker,

dear movie talker,
Yes, I am finally writing you a letter about your witty and sarcastic comments about the current film that we have spend our hard earned money on. It is also true, that you always seem to wait for the quietest moment in the theater to express your opinion about the dying situation or chapel perilous that our hero is enduring. However, I feel the need to break the news that I, Brandon, is sick of your comments and spoiler spouting theories. I need you to be silent or take your ADHD medicine before the film begins, so that I may enjoy the story from minute one to the final words climbing the screen. I understand this may be hard to hear or comprehend. Hollywood has given you the right device (dvd player) for you to use to help you practice your self control from the onslaught of wordplay rantings. Go home and use this device to help you practice keeping your mouth shut and ruining the movie for me and my friends. Hope you enjoy this advice.
Sincerely, Brandon

As above, you learn that I had hate movie talkers. I want to go to see a film and dive into the mystery and storytelling. However, this people go and feel that is a social time or a good time to prove to there friends that they are the funniest man alive ( to bad you lost to multiple winners: Larry David, Jim Rome, Bill Cosby and many more). However, I feel the need to identify the multiple times of movie talkers.

Spouting Spoiler: This individual likes to tell you what is about to come next or where the plot is going. They fail to remember that you are both in the journey of watching the movie and there for entertainment purposes. However, sometimes your spoilers are wrong and you hang your head in shame for claiming such a plot.

Wordplayer: A direct spin off of the spouting spoiler, the wordplayer likes to finish sentences before they happen in the film. They love the satisfaction of either secretly going to the movies the night before to see the film so they can spit out the lines like the actors. Or they are like Uri Geller or Jean Dixon and use there amazing psychic powers to predict the next line. I say, go into acting. However maybe this people are just wannbe actors. Hmmmmm.

"Go Bots, Go Bots": This individual is the one who likes to state the obvious in the film. I was in a film once where individual continued to point out who Gandalf was in the Return of the King. I was merely confused with this individual because of multiple reasons. 1) Return of the King is 3 and half hours long and he is in the film for most of it (how can you not recongize him?) 2) He is the only old guy in the film ( how could you not remember the freaking old guy who rides a kick ass horse, who fights deathly shadows and is named "Gandolf the White") 3) There are two films, in which someone would have to see to help them understand the plot line of the Return of the King. So why start with the third film in the first place. Which brings me to the next time of people.

The Clueless: The clueless are the ones who have no clue why they are in the theater at all. If you ask them, they usually shrug there shoulders and scratch there heads (Ironcally these individuals likes all Michael Bay films and the movie "Deep Impact"). However these clueless people also like to make comments in the film because they are clueless. They like to poke fun at the production, storyline, famous lines and everything else. I say, people should education themselves before entering a film. Do not go to a 9 dollar theater, go blind and make comments and ruin it for everyone. We do not like you clueless ones.

Daters: Finally, we come to the daters. The people who make the smart choice to go on there first date to a movie. These individuals I guess, need the film to help or inspire them to actually start a conversation with each other. Roger Lodge would have a hay day with you if that was best part of the day. So here is a tip: Go to a nice restaurant and talk ( with the way movie tickets are going it should cost the same).

well hello there

I finally return to the internet, the blog world and thinking straight. I find myself driving and discussing great topics in my head and then fail to come on line and actually sit down and write them out. Some of the topics are: "How Nickelback should not be allowed to be played on the radio (or be allowed to make records anymore), since all of there songs are the same", "How so many people have hanging handicap tags but seem to be moving around this earth with perfection (meaning, no signs of handicapness)", and recently "How the BCS system is a bunch of bull ____ (go ahead and fill in the blank. I allow you)".
However, when i actually get to my computer I find that I am not in a writing nor creative mood and then I spend the next hour searching for new music on the internet. I do that quite often and have been very successful in over the past few months which could be why I disappeared for a little bit. Either way. I wanted to write and give you a report on what is going on in entertainment part of my life.
First, about every two to three weeks I have been publishing a podcast (you can get it on itunes). It is simply a hour long show with me sharing what music i have discovered or has impacted me in the past few months. I have been really enjoying putting it together and being able to share music faster with my friends and family.
Second, I am throwing around ideas for the next film. I will say, that I have a few ideas for the new film for the spring. However, I am not content with direction and possibilities that may come with my ideas. I am wanting something fresh and challenging. I have a concept but i am unsure whether or not it is possible. This spring, I guess we will see.
Three, I have been reading some books about culture and Christianity. This topic has been a great passion of mind and I have been wanting to study it in depth. So hopefully, there will be more post of my thoughts and ideas as the more i dive into a little more.

So there you go. You got the run down of what has been going on, what may come and what i am doing at this moment. Actually, I am sitting in a coffee shop observing people and noticing how college students awkwardly interact with each other. I always hate group projects in college. But what I hated even more, was group projects with people who I did not and who did not care to know me. So it is fun to watch people now, knowing the secret that groups suck.

Not My Brother Podcast

The "Official" Not My Brother Podcast is now available to listen. To give you some background about the this project is simply, me wanting to share new music and also be able to talk to others about it. I want to start a conversation or spark someone onto a new artist that may brilliant there day or just simple make the minute. I hope you enjoy the collection of songs that I have put together. Around every month, I will be posting a "radio podcast" which I will rare tracks, live recordings and songs that inspire me. Feel free to make any comments or ask me any questions.
Also by going to the site, you make download the podcast or simply stream it from your computer. We are still working out the best way to do things and hopefully by the end of the month have it up on itunes. I hope you all enjoy.

football begins

football season has started in the south. Meaning, if there is a home game, there is not much to do in town but to go to the game. I have adopted Clemson football as my team of choice and whenever I can. Above is a picture of what the stadium looks like right before Clemson players come running down the hill. The place goes crazy, people jump up and down, balloons go flying and within miles away you can hear people cheering. Below is a little movie clip of what is like to be in the student section right before a kick off. Everyone jumps up and down and sings "Uh oh, Uh oh, etc".

So, for all of you folks who ever never had the chance to go to a game. You need to go find a team and go embrace the culture of a Saturday Football game. I probably will not be writing much about football games but I figure it is a good time of the year to share the experience of the past two weekends.

UPdate

Went to the Red Sox vs. Braves this past weekend. It was a sad day. Sox lost. however, the next day they won. Maybe I am cursed? Maybe, the Atlanta heat is getting to my head. Unsure, but I do know that if you are interested in listening ot some new music, check out http://www.joshrouse.com/.

Each week, they are playing a new track from his album coming out in the end of July (31). The album is called "Country Mouse, City House" which contains 9 tracks based around 70's style with catchy lyrics and broke down sound, similiar to the groups, "Eagles" and "America". I have listened to most of the tracks have a wintery and yet disconnect from the traditional Josh Rouse sound. "Sweetie" the opening track from the album is the probably the best song on the album so far from what i have heard and "Snowy" is major departure by using horns instead of the classic strings are a haunting background. Over all, the album may test the waters of loyal Josh Rouse fans or it may just simple make them down until the next album.

new music 06-09-07

Cary Brothers: "Who You Are": The other day I was listening to the mix and I heard a song that caught my attention, "Who You Are" the title track from Cary Brothers first full lengthy Lp. I knew of Cary Brothers from the songs, "Blue Eyes" (Garden State Soundtrack) and "Ride" (The Last Kiss Soundtrack) and heard some of his other songs that I was less involved getting to know from Ep's. However, Brothers has stepped up and put together a collection broken hearted, beautiful driven and passionate ballads. "Loneliest Girl In the World", "Honestly" and "Precious Lie" are heartfelt and hopeful among tragic of relationships. "Who You Are" and "Ride" are the driving chorus that deal with fighting for love and expression. Brothers has matured his writing style and is stepping forward with "Who You Are". It is a great record, go check it out at www.myspace.com/carybrothers
Travis: "The Boy With No Name": Travis's fifth album is a delightful and a cheerful surprise in comparison to there extremely dark forth album "12 Memories". The new single, "Closer", shows the more happier and sentimental sides of Travis progressive songwriting abilities and continue to embrace there beautiful melancholy feel. "Big Chair" and "Eyes Wide Open" are bass guided songs that put a refreshing twist to the traditional sober Travis sound. "Colder" is personal my favorite track, with it catchy lyrics, harmonica solo and entwined with Scottish sadness. "The Boy With No Name" is a sold record and also has once again put hope that Travis will continue to make good music.
William Fitzsimmons: "Its Not True": Fitzsimmons has a very familiar sound, honest lyrics and simple melodies. If you are fan of "Iron and Wine" (even looks like them) or "Joshua Radin" definitively check out "Goodnight" the new LP from William Fitzsimmons. You can also listen to some of his tracks "It's Not True" and "Everything Has Changed" at www.myspace.com/williamfitzsimmons .

Everyday I Said A Prayer For Kate

It has been awhile since I have written in the blog and I apologize for that. The reason I haven't been able to share to much. I have been working on my film for the 7th Annual Film Fest at Dcf. There were a lot of wonderful movies this year. I think it might have been the best one that I have been to yet.

I am delighted to share that the movie that I made won 7 out of the 13 awards handed out Saturday night. We won Best Movie Script/Screenplay, Supporting Actress(Kelly Jones), Actress(Catherine Cain), Actor(Andy Heck), Director(Brandon Loy), Best Drama and Film (Everyday I Said a Prayer for Kate and She Smiles). I am proud of all my actors and people that were involved in the long process of making this film. Hopefully in a few weeks, we will be able to have it up online for people to see. Until then, here are a few pictures to hold you over.

"10 Hours at 60 mph"

Alot of times, people ask what do i do for a living. Next question is usually if about whether or not I like it. Then they continue with asking about the type of clients that i work with. However, no one really has asked me about what is around me in my job. A lot of the people that i know live basically in the Clemson area. Most of them don't even see the sights I see. So I decided that i am going to start alittle series of shots of places I pass and see while driving for my job. All of these pictures were taken randomly throughout Anderson County in my work car (#877). Here is the part one of the series. It was also inspired by claire's longing for interesting pictures and wanting to make her smile after a long day. Enjoy part one entitle: " 10 Hours at 60 mph".

Also here is alittle video i made with most of the images from part 1. I thought the music does a good job at capturing my mood for the day. Enjoy!
